BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent was left blushing and at a loss for words during the latest episode, as she confessed to viewers: "I don't know what to say."
Sally and her co-host were presenting Tuesday's (November 19) edition of the show, delivering the day's top news stories from the UK and around the globe. However, it was the story about the Denton Calendar Boys that really caught them off guard.
The segment, which featured a group of men stripping down to raise funds for charity, much like the renowned Calendar Girls who collected millions for blood cancer research, rendered the presenters momentarily speechless. Amidst laughter, Sally turned to weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, remarking: "Carol, have you seen this. I don't really know what to say."
While Carol showed her surprise, Jon chimed in to describe the cheeky fundraiser to the audience, even as they viewed an image of one of the calendar's nude participants, commenting: "You've heard of Calendar Girls, well this morning we can tell you about the Calendar Boys and that's one of them."
Sally added: "Yes, this has nothing to do with our farming story which is also the lead this morning. A group of men from Norfolk have bared all in hopes of raising money for their local and our brave reporter Robbie West has been to meet the Denton Dream Boys."
Breakfast viewers had something to say about the racy topic with some thinking it was a bit early to be discussing a nude calendar. One posted: "I'm all for a story about a naked calendar but before 7am? reports .
But others thought it should have been handled differently. Another said: "Watching #BBCBreakfast covering the Denton Calendar Boys with immature comments, embarrassment and shame is so much different to when they covered the Calendar Girls."
They added, "If you change the gender and your reaction is different, then you have a problem."
Meanwhile, Phillip Luton, Mr November in the revealing calendar, confessed why he joined this daring venture, noting: "I trusted Mark the photographer that he would get me in a good pose."
When questioned about any nerves over baring all, he humorously shared: "I didn't really worry, I haven't got a lot to show anyway, to be honest."
BBC Breakfast is on BBC One weekdays at 6am and on BBC iPlayer
