Love was in the air last night - as one hundred couples got hitched at the same star-studded spot.

Old Marylebone Town Hall hosted back-to-back ceremonies to celebrate its 100th birthday. The central London venue has thrown weddings for a string of musical legends and Hollywood stars over the years from Liam Gallagher to Antonio Banderas.

And yesterday 100 couples joined them in saying "I do" at the historic location. The marathon saw 43 registrars on hand to seal seven marriages and vow renewals an hour, with ceremonies continuing well into the night. Each wedding lasted 15 minutes and couples could bring up to eight guests and two pets.

Among them was Sam, 35, and Chris, 33, who got engaged on the Yorkshire Moors in November. Speaking ahead of their big day, Sam said: "I think it is going to be a day full of love and I like the idea of that. To have so many happy people being around – I am really looking forward to it."

Old Marylebone Town Hall was opened by George VI in 1920 and held its first wedding four years later. It has since hosted more than 125,000 ceremonies including the nation's first same-sex union in 2014.

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher tied the knot with his first wife Patsy Kensit there in 1997 and he remarried to All Saints singer Nicole Appleton at the same registry office in 2008. Other notable ceremonies include Beatles stars Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, singer Cilla Black and Hollywood A-listers Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith.

And just last week, TOWIE star Vicky Pattison tied the knot with her now-husband Ercan Ramadan. Also getting hitched yesterday were BBC reporter Thomas Mackintosh and his wife Paige. Thomas got down on one knee while holidaying in Athens in 2022.

He said of their big day: "It’s quite nice being part of this. It forced us to choose a date. We handpicked our guests. They were great in there." Couples paid £100 to take part – it usually costs between £621 and £1,231.
