Alexis Mac Allister has seemingly despite suffering an injury scare with Liverpool.

The midfielder was taken off at , with .

"He [Mac Allister] went off because of an injury,” said. “But how bad it is, that’s difficult for me to judge in this moment.

"He could have continued playing, like you saw because it didn’t happen a second before half-time. But he felt it a bit too much and said, ‘I don’t think it’s good to keep on playing, because you never know if I’ll make it worse’.

"Now, what is the exact situation, can he go to Argentina, can he play over there? That’s difficult for me to tell you now. No, I don’t think [it was his hip]. Groin area I think."

Liverpool has since confirmed is due to undergo a scan, , to determine the exact nature of the injury. The 25-year-old though has now offered his own take on the problem.

Posting on after the victory over Palace, Mac Allister showed little concern for his injury as he prepares for the latest international break. “Great win for the team today, these are the moments that make us stronger,” he said.

“I felt a slight discomfort during the game, but nothing that will stop me. Now fully focused on what’s ahead.”

If Mac Allister does travel to South America, he’ll be under consideration for Argentina’s next two World Cup qualifiers. The defending world champions head to Venezuela on Thursday (October 10) before a home game against Bolivia on Wednesday (October 16).

Liverpool.com says: Mac Allister seems like the sort of player who would be keen to represent their country even if they have an injury concern, which might put Liverpool in a delicate position. The midfielder will need to undergo a scan to determine just how bad the groin problem might be, and the Reds would be well within their rights to tell Argentina he won’t be traveling to South America.

Liverpool will already be wary of the fact that Argentina plays in the early hours (UK time) on Wednesday against Bolivia, not leaving Mac Allister much time to recover for the Reds’ first game back against Chelsea. Fingers crossed he comes through the next couple of weeks unscathed.
