Arne Slot told to forget transfer hopes after drawing up £51m Liverpool plan

Eintracht Frankfurt's sporting director has played down talk of an exit for Liverpool-linked hotshot Omar Marmoush.

Marmoush has been to fellow Egypt star at Anfield. The 25-year-old has scored 13 times in 15 Frankfurt appearances this term, finding the net in each of his last three matches, though the £51m-rated star remains under contract until 2027.

Most recently, he scored the winner against Slavia Prague in the on Thursday. The Bundesliga side have 10 points from their first four games in the competition, and are due to progress straight to the round of 16 as things stand.

The 2022 Europa League winners also sit third in the Bundesliga after putting seven past Bochum in their last league game. They are on track for qualification, and chief Markus Krosche believes they can hang on to their top scorer.

"I’m obviously pleased that he’s still scoring," Krosche said. "I think Omar feels comfortable here so we shouldn’t always discuss the transfer window or possible transfers."

The sporting director's comments come after he admitted in October that no member of the squad was absolutely unsellable. "It is true that Omar made a very clear commitment to us in the summer," he said. "He has developed well and still has a lot of potential to develop further.

"For us, we don’t want to lose so many key players. I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable but we want to keep the team together. I talk about Marmoush after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount."

Krosche's comments come as remain without Diogo Jota, who was injured in the October victory over . However, manager made good use of Luis Diaz in an unfamiliar number nine role in midweek as the Colombian scored a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

"If we have injuries like we have at the moment then we can play Lucho [Diaz] as a nine again," Slot said after the 4-0 win. “Last season more Cody [Gakpo] as a nine and Lucho as 11, so that's also an option. Not only do people in love Lucho, but they love him in Liverpool as well as I heard the fans sing his song a lot. But his manager also likes him as well!”

Liverpool are up against Aston Villa on Saturday as they look to stay top of the , and their manager continues to aim big. “We want to be where we are now and compete for everything," Slot added after the Leverkusen game. “If you work here or play here you have to accept there is pressure, but on the other side you can enjoy special evenings and enjoy it."
