Arsenal have been warned they have 'no chance' of signing Viktor Gyokeres, with former skipper William Gallas tipping the striker to join .

The Swedish star in Europe since moving to Sporting Lisbon in 2023. He scored 43 goals in 50 games in his debut season and has already banged in 23 goals in 18 appearances this campaign.

Gallas is certainly one of them and he has urged Gunners chiefs to bring in a new forward to take the place of Kai Havertz. But he has warned his former side they need to ignore Gyokeres, with Arsenal having 'no chance' signing him.

"Kai Havertz has never ever been the right man to take Arsenal to the title. Havertz is a good player, but he's not top class. I'm sorry, but he's nowhere near a world-class level, Arsenal need a player to replace him at striker," Gallas told .

"The club needs to wake up, it's obvious and simple, they need a striker. You need a strong squad to compete with each other, that's how Man City and stay at such a high level, if you have the same starting XI every week then the performances level will drop.

"Arsenal have no chance of signing Viktor Gyokeres, he will choose Man United. Gyokeres will follow Ruben Amorim to Man United, I think Gyokeres would suit Man United's team too."

Gyokeres has admitted he is expecting to leave Sporting Lisbon in an upcoming transfer window. He revealed that he was convincined to remain in Portugal last summer, but is ready for a blockbuster move.

“They [Sporting] wanted most of the starting players to stay and held us tight. That’s how it turned out, but I enjoy Sporting very well, so for me it was no problem to stay,” he explained recently.

“It was probably a bit too much because nothing came of it. Of course it’s a lot of money. But we’ll see what happens next window.”

If he did join United, he would link back up with Ruben Amorim, who has just left Sporting to take over the Red Devils. But Amorim has played down the chances of the Swedish star moving to Old Trafford.

"If I start joking about this Gyokeres situation I'll get in trouble," Amorim said. "This is my city, this is my country, so I'll respect it. Viktor has to stay until the end of the season and then his life will probably go somewhere else."
