Aston Villa danger man identified ahead of huge Bayern Munich Champions League clash

Alan McInally has pinpointed Morgan Rogers as the man who can cause Bayern Munich problems.

‌The former Villa ace, who also played for the German side in a Champions League semi-final, says that the former West Brom trainee has one quality that can unsettle Wednesday's visitors.

Back in the day, McInally ran defences ragged with his power - and he sees similar in Rogers, bought in January by Villa boss Unai Emery for £7m from Middlesbrough.‌

He said: “I like Morgan Rogers a lot - I think he’s done really well. I like that he wants to run with the ball at his feet and take players on, rather than take the ball then open out your body out and play it to the side.

“He’s always looking to drive forward. That’s what we are going to need.” McInally says that tonight will be an opportunity for Emery’s players to showcase their talent on the biggest stage.

He added: “Villa Park will be bouncing. The boys deserve every bit of it. They are going to be part of something that a lot of players who played for Aston Villa - a lot of good players, too, by the way - have never seen at the club.

“These lads have got the perfect platform to show everybody how good they are. And they ARE good.

“Those others in their group - they’ll have watched Aston Villa and they’ll be looking at Ollie Watkins, and Ezri Konsa, Amadou Onana and Emi Martinez - the best keeper in Europe - and they would be foolish to take this team lightly, regardless of whether they are Champions League rookies.‌

“And this squad is strong enough to keep us in a European competition this year, regardless of what happens. Emery has options on the bench. It’s a strong bench - it’s not about the starting XI any more - and that should be taken into account.”
