During a chat about a Christmas tree throwing contest in East Sussex, Sally disclosed her plans to erect her Christmas tree ahead of schedule this year. Sally quipped: "You've got to be pretty cross to be throwing your tree that far," reports .
To which Jon retorted: "I'm pretty cross that you're thinking about putting your tree up so early!" Surprised by his reaction, Sally exclaimed: "Are you? Why?"
Jon suggested she should "wait a bit". But Sally stood her ground, replying: "Why? Why not enjoy the whole of December," and argued: "And every time you come home, you feel a bit Christmassy. You're being a bit humbug here, Jon!"
He conceded, admitting: "Every year older I get a bit more grumpy about Christmas." The pair then quickly transitioned to the weather report.
