BBC Countryfile's Jules Hudson supported as he shares emotional message

Countryfile host has shared an emotional message with fans while revealing a surprise past career.

The presenter, who is known for his role on the programme as well as decided to open up to his followers on . He shared a heartfelt reflection on his time in the military to mark Remembrance Day. Many of Jules fans are unaware of his past working as part of the NATO Battlegroup.

"It’s hard to believe that it’s now six years ago that I served briefly with the NATO Battlegroup in Estonia over the winter of 2018/19," he shared. "It’s still there, working hard in sub zero temperatures to defend NATOs Eastern frontier. Spare a thought for our troops this Remembrance day who are doing all they can to support our Baltic Allies against the backdrop of the grinding tragedy of War in ."

Jules' fans shared their support as one said: "Oh wow. I never knew. I'm always a massive advocate of Remembrance Day to remember those who have served so bravely. Proud of you for doing your bit." Another added: "Jules!! Who knew. You are full of surprises.. excellent message. My dad flew spitfires as a Canadian and one of his training fields was Charmy Downs near Bath. Remembrance Day is always important to me and I hope everyone…"

Someone else commented: "Wow didn't know that Jules...bless you." Jules has been presenting property show Escape to the Country since 2007. He recently in order to have a much-needed time out "Late last year, I realised I was quite burnt out and needed a creative and emotional reset," he said.

"My wife said 'Why don't you take some time out and go to the Boat Building Academy?'," he told Lyme Regis and Bridport News in February. "I thought about it, and it dawned on me - what am I waiting for? So, I investigated the courses here at the BBA, saw the 12-week furniture-making course and took the jump and enrolled."

The presenter had previously visited the academy while filming Escape to the Country in 2012 and said he "fell in love" with the course. He spent three months perfecting the skills he had learnt and despite his break, the presenter has insisted Escape to the Country fans should not fear.

Revealing his future plans for the BBC show, Jules told the Express: "I hope to do Escape to the Country for as long as I'm able and for as long as the show will have me. I absolutely love it, it's a show I'm incredibly fond of. It's very dear to me." The television presenter lives with his wife Tania Fitzgerald, their young son Jack, and two Labradors, Teddy and Lolo. They married in 2016 and decided to escape to the country themselves after finding London "very claustrophobic".
