Escape to the Country presenter Alistair Appleton was a tower of strength in Monday's tear-jerking episode. The popular show kicked off with an introduction to solo house hunter Kerry.
Having spent over 20 years in her three-bedroom house in Maidstone, Kerry set her sights on relocating to Dorset where her heart has long belonged, particularly now her kids are all grown.
She spilled to viewers: "My heart has always been in Dorset even though I've been away for so long. To finally be coming back is just amazing."
During the episode, Kerry revealed that her mother left when she was just 16, but fast forward to 2021, they found each other after being apart for four decades.
With a strong desire to bridge the years lost with her mum, Kerry came equipped with £375,000 to spend on a new nest - optimally including double bedrooms, a spot for work, and a garden oasis, reports .
Right from the get-go, before the search was underway, Kerry couldn't contain her emotions, confessing to Alistair how much being in Dorset meant to her, her eyes welled up with tears.
As they embarked on the property quest, Kerry was immediately smitten with the first house she saw, but it was the enigmatic 'mystery house' that truly captured her imagination.
The village of Mappowder was the setting that took her breath away. Overcome with emotion even before entering the house, Alistair tenderly offered: "Do you need a hanky?"
Kerry was highly emotional as she teared up at the sight of the old school building, listed under Grade II, complete with a church backdrop.
Overcome with emotion, Kerry struggled to hold back the tears as she entered the home. With a slight quiver in her voice, she mustered an apologetic "Sorry."
Her co-presenter Alistair didn't hesitate to comfort her, assuring her with a warm: "Don't be sorry! We love tears of happiness."
As they toured the stunning property, Kerry was visibly moved and expressed her disbelief through sobs: "Oh my goodness me, I honestly can't believe it."
In response, the BBC presenter encouraged her, suggesting whimsically: "Deep breaths, can you imagine if you had a big cosy sofa?"
The living space naturally drew emotions out of Kerry as she paused, turning to her aunt for support, with Alistair stepping in to hug
Imagining her future within these walls, Kerry continued to explore, her excitement growing as the tour progressed.
Finally, the moment of truth arrived at the programme's conclusion. Kerry shared her affection for the house as she commented: "It's just a real little gem, a real little beauty that one, isn't it? I want to be here by the summer."
Revealing her intentions to pursue this new-found dream, Kerry spoke about making an offer on what could soon become her new home, eager to start anew.
Moved to tears once again, she disclosed: "The dream that I've had is now a reality. I didn't think that would happen, so it's quite amazing. I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight! I'm not speechless very often."
Escape to the Country continues weekdays on BBC One from 3pm.
