BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans left 'so confused' by change minutes into results show

Send Push

Strictly Come Dancing returned once again on Sunday night for the results show after the show's Movie Week special.

However, just seconds into the results show, viewers were left confused as they took to , now X, to complain about a new format to the show, which wasn't launched with the traditional opening group number by the professional dancers.

One person said: "They're opening with the results first?? don't they nearly go straight into a pro dance??? #Strictly." A different account put: "WHY DO THEY KEEP CHANGING THE FORMAT #scd." A third wrote: "I know they’re only small changes but I hate this new format #strictly."

Another fan asked: "Why have we stopped starting with a group number i’m so confused #strictly" while a different viewer added: "I don't like this new format of not opening with the group dance. Looking forward to the rom com dance #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

Elsewhere, a different show watcher said: "The Sunday opening dance is always the best. Where is it? #Strictly."

It comes after the opener for the themed-episode on Saturday night featured the professional dancers transformed into Minions from the Despicable Me franchise with Kai Widdrington dressed as Gru, the grouchy former supervillain and protagonist of the film series, while the other professionals donned yellow bodysuits to mimic the tiny henchmen.

Meanwhile, the celebrities and their dance partners put on movie-inspired routines complete with incredible costumes. However, on Sunday, it sadly saw Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones leave the hit One dance competition after finding themselves in the bottom two with Paul Merson and Karen Hauer.

Upon learning she was in the dance-off, Toyah had an emotional six-word response as she said: "I feel so sorry for Neil!"

After their fate in the competition was revealed, both couples performed their routines again with Toyah and Neil performing their Samba to Poor Unfortunate Souls from Little Mermaid while Paul and Karen performed their Cha Cha to The Magnificent Seven from The Magnificent Seven.

It was then time for the judges to deliver their verdicts with Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all choosing to save Paul and Karen.

With three votes in favour of Paul and Karen, they won the majority vote meaning that Toyah and Neil would be leaving the competition. Meanwhile, head judge also agreed and said she would have decided to save Paul and Karen.

Ahead of the weekend, DIY SOS star Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were due to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2 before Nick pulled out on Friday due to an injury.

It comes as last weekend Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova became the first pair to leave the competition.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 12 October at 18:20pm.
