BBC Strictly Come Dancing star says 'I'm so sorry' to pro partner after being sent home by judges

Strictly Come Dancing revealed its second elimination of the series on Sunday night after a tense dance-off.

During the results episode, Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones left the hit One dance competition after finding themselves in the bottom two with Paul Merson and Karen Hauer. Upon learning she was in the dance-off, Toyah had an emotional six-word response as she said: "I feel so sorry for Neil!"

After their fate in the competition was revealed, both couples performed their routines again with Toyah and Neil performing their Samba to Poor Unfortunate Souls from Little Mermaid while Paul and Karen performed their Cha Cha to The Magnificent Seven from The Magnificent Seven.

It was then time for the judges to deliver their verdicts with Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all choosing to save Paul and Karen. With three votes in favour of Paul and Karen, they won the majority vote meaning that Toyah and Neil would be leaving the competition.

Meanwhile, head judge also agreed and said she would have decided to save Paul and Karen. Talking about the results and her time on the show, Toyah said: "It's been the best two months of my life, it has been fantastic. I have enjoyed every second. And you (Neil) have been phenomenal, thank you so much."

She added over her pro partner: "It was immediate, it had to be Neil. I felt so comfortable and safe. You're a great teacher, you're a great friend as well. You've just given me a new zest for life, that's the most valuable thing I've come away with."

Meanwhile, Neil said: "She has made me laugh so much, I have never seen someone work so hard - I'm the one asking for breaks every now and then! She just kept going, she wanted to learn so much. If you saw her in the hallway she’s been practicing. Everyone’s been telling me have you seen Toyah practicing, she’s brilliant and she’s what Strictly is all about, and I’ve loved every moment."

It comes as last weekend Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova became the first pair to leave the competition.

Elsewhere on Sunday's results show amid the show's Movie Week, the episode featured a rom-com inspired routine choreographed by Mandy Moore and starring Neil as the leading man. Meanwhile, there was also a show stopping musical performance of The Heart Asks Pleasure First from Alexis Ffrench.

The remaining 13 couples will take to the dancefloor next week when returns.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 12 October at 18:20pm.
