Strictly’s Wynne Evans shared for the first time the awful moment he realised he had to drastically alter his eating habits and how, ‘the universe was trying to tell me something’.
TV personality and radio presenter is currently competing in alongside professional partner Katya Jones. Before the talent show launched he said he was unsure of how he would get on but that he wanted to make his home city of Wales "proud". Go Compare ad star Wynne, 52, certainly hasn’t had the smoothest of rides in his Strictly journey. He was left "heartbroken" after Katya appeared to push his hand away from her waist and then refused his high five. The pair assured fans it was just a bad joke that had gone wrong but it left him feeling bruised over the negative public reaction.
The Celebrity Masterchef winner has faced many other personal trials however before his time on Strictly and has been open in how he’s dealt with his mental health in the past. As well as reaching an all time low and Wynne has battled with his weight from a young age. At his heaviest he tipped the scales at almost 24 stone.

But there was one pivotal moment that made him realise he had to shed some pounds. He revealed for the first time exactly what happened that spurred on his decision to get healthy and said it came after he had been camping with friends. In an interview with on YouTube he shared the awful thing that had happened while on the trip: "I think - this is so embarrassing right, and I've never told anyone this - I went camping, and I sat on a chair, and it just smashed underneath me."
He went on to explain that he then opted for another seat but what followed was the turning point: "So, I thought I'd sit on that chair, and that smashed as well and I thought 'this has to come to an end because I'm smashing chairs at this point. The universe is trying to tell me something’."
Wynne said that a year before he had weighed 23 stone and had managed to shed a whopping seven stone by giving up bread, burgers and cheese, which he loves, and also reducing his alcohol intake. He also told ’s how he had started to exercise to aid his health kick which meant he was physically able to accept the Strictly offer . "One day I started doing a little bit of running - well, walking, actually, at the start. Then I slowly lost weight. So when the call came from Strictly I thought, ‘This is the right spot’."
