BBC Strictly's Nick Knowles' heartbreak over 'decision' on injury

Send Push

Nick Knowles is uncertain about his ability to strut his stuff on ' Strictly Come Dancing ' this Saturday, September 28, following a shoulder and arm injury.

However, he'll learn if he can proceed on Thursday afternoon. While swapping a tyre, the DIY SOS frontman was injured but has continued practising with professional partner Luba Mushtuk, proving to bosses he can still glide through the American Smooth on Saturday evening.

The 62-year-old TV personality shared that his shoulder is "repairing very well" after an impressive rehearsal on Wednesday. He announced in a video update shared on his Twitter/X account that come Thursday afternoon, a verdict on his weekend gig would be made.

From his Wednesday night bath soak, Nick stated: "So a bit of an update for you. I've just got out of soaking in the bath after a day's training, which went very, very well. The shoulder is repairing very well. I saw a great physio today as well that's helped enormously."

"So, I get another day's training tomorrow. The decision will be made tomorrow afternoon, whether I can actually compete on Saturday. I'm doing my level best to get there - keeping my fingers crossed. So, hopefully see you Saturday."

Eager to remain in the competition, Nick is reportedly imploring the show's chiefs to give him the thumbs up for this weekend's performance. Insiders claim to The Sun newspaper: "Nick is desperate to carry on and is insisting he is fine to perform but the BBC are naturally wary.

"If Nick continues and does more damage to himself in the long run it puts them in a tricky position. His health comes first but Nick is pleading with them to continue."

However, the pair won't have much time to perfect their routine if they are cleared to perform. A source said: "Nick needs to learn a whole routine, he has barely any time at all. If he is cleared he will need to learn quickly. Luba is an amazing teacher and she is confident they can do it. But, ultimately, it might get to a point that the BBC just put their foot down."

Following his injury, Nick has been spotted with his arm in a sling. He took to Instagram following the freak accident to reveal his injury. "As you can see my arm is in a sling and that's because my car broke down at the side of the motorway," he said at the time. "I had my little boy in the car, so I wanted to change the tyre as quickly as possible. In the process of hurrying to get the wheel off, I managed to damage my shoulder and arm a little. I'm not sure how, but it's been quite painful."
