Big Brother fans have declared the things they 'need' to see changed as released a statement around the future of the show.
Ahead of the current series live final, the broadcaster has confirmed that a new series will return in the new year. It will be the third series on the channel, after finding a new home on ITV in 2023, more than two decades after the original series on .
Applications for housemates are already open with hopefuls who believe they have what it takes to take on the original social experiment encouraged to apply by visiting BigBrother.com.
A statement on ITV's official X account read: "It’s official!! will return for a third series on ITV2 & ITVX… following Series 2 of the star-studded edition, on ITV1 & ITVX next year!"
Fans have been quick to respond to the news on social media, and most of them follow a similar theme. Many of them believe that the current six-week run of the series is too short, especially taking into consideration with the number of housemates participating in the show.
They also have a number of other requests, including the return of a consistent 24/7 live stream. One replied to the announcement saying: "12 housemates, 8 weeks. That's all we need. It's not that hard to mess up, yet you seem to be messing it up perfectly".
A viewer suggested: "8 Week Series MINIMUM 24/7 Live Feed You want the 'original social experiment' and for the past two years have treated it with disdain."
Another agreed, believing it was the secret to an increase viewership: "Please 8 weeks 6 isn’t long enough and interviews on main show and then different host for BBLL and 24/7 live feed and viewing numbers will go UP."
While one viewer wished for ITV to acknowledge the history of the series more, including the series shown on Channels 4 and 5. They said: "Bring back at LEAST 8 weeks per series, start it in August and run it til I’m a celeb starts. And more panellist's on Late & Live from Channel 4 & Channel 5 big brother. Remember the history of the show, the reason we all love it."
Big Brother concludes tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX and returns in 2025
