Bridgerton star to 'return from the dead' as Ben Miller drops huge clue

Send Push

Ben Miller has teased a potential return from the dead for his Bridgerton character.

The Death In Paradise star played Lord Featherington in Bridgerton - the father of Prudence (played by Bessie Carter), Philippa (Harriet Cains) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) - in the first series until the character was killed off. However, Ben has teased he could be back.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Ben teased: "I never saw him die - and that's the crucial bit on TV. We didn't see him die. We saw him with some ruffians and then he just wasn't there," as Susanna Reid replied: "Anything is possible!"

Ben filmed Bridgerton ahead of the Coronavirus pandemic and said he had "absolutely no idea" how successful the show would be. He told Express: "I had absolutely no idea. I mean, in fact, it was also strange because we filmed it days before the pandemic began. So it started filming in January/February - I think we wound up finishing in February - and then of course a couple of weeks later things really kicked off. People were talking about coronavirus, but it all seemed a bit far away at the time.

"It was very difficult to finish, because it was hard for people to get the editing done. Then we hadn’t really heard about it for a year and then it was all kept under wraps until right at the last moment, when they announced it would air on Christmas Day, which I thought was fantastically ambitious.

"You know, it was an ambitious idea and it was a gamble, wasn't it? But it really, really paid off. I think it was a time where we'd all had a bit of a miserable time and I think we were ready for some escapism."

Ben said previously he always had a "question mark" over if Lord Featherington would come back.

"Who knows? You don’t actually see him die. It does happen off screen and... I don’t know. As far as I know I’m dead.

"But there’s got to be a little question mark in my mind. I just think, seeing as you didn’t see him die," he said.

Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix.
