Bryson DeChambeau makes feeling clear on controversial Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano fight

LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau had nothing but praise for Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano following their electrifying and contentious title bout on the undercard of Jake Paul's underwhelming victory over .

The between YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul and former heavyweight world champion Tyson turned out to be a disappointing mismatch, with 58-year-old Tyson's legs failing him as he pursued his opponent, who is 31 years his junior.

Instead, it was the undisputed light welterweight clash between Despite having a point deducted in the eighth round for a headbutt, Irish sporting icon Taylor was declared the winner on the judges' scorecards, although many viewers felt that Puerto Rican hero Serrano had done enough to avenge her 2022 loss to Taylor.

Regardless of the outcome, DeChambeau took to social media to commend both women on their performances, stating: "Serrano vs Taylor was one of the best competitive matches I've ever seen."

Taylor, 38, was defending the titles she reclaimed last year by avenging her defeat to Chantelle Cameron – the only woman to beat the 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the professional ranks. However, it seemed as though Serrano was getting the upper hand in the exchanges.

When Taylor lost a point in the eighth round after several head clashes left Serrano with a gruesome cut above her right eye, it appeared that the seven-weight world champion was on track for victory.

Taylor bravely fought until the very end, though, as both warriors exchanged heavy blows in the center of the ring. In a tightly contested affair, both fighters lifted their arms at the sound of the final bell, each believing they'd done enough to secure victory.

However, it was repeat rather than revenge, with Taylor getting the nod with scores of 95-94 across all three judges' scorecards.

"I knew they obviously complaining about the decision, but I really don't care. I'm standing here as a victor again," Taylor said at the post-fight press conference.

"I fought her twice, I beat her twice. All the judges were in agreement. So I really couldn't care less what's being said about the fight. I'm standing here again, I'm 2-0 against Serrano and I'm very, very happy."

Serrano's promoter Nakisa Bidarian had a very different view. He said: "I would like to point out that the betting markets in the 10th round had it as -350 for Amanda to win.

"I thought Katie implemented her game plan well, but it was a dirty fight. She used her head to lead every single minute of every round and Amanda did her best to fight back, but she was at a disadvantage and the ref didn't stop the headbutts.

"He took up a point away way too late and she continued to do the headbutting, continued to do the holding. Just felt that the ref didn't protect her. The ref didn't put her in her position to win, and they should have taken away more than one point for what that woman was doing in the ring tonight."
