Cat Deeley utters 'disrespectful' word on This Morning sparking anger from fans

This Morning viewers were left outraged after slipped up when introducing Armistice Day coverage.

The popular TV presenter was introducing the two-minute silence when she used what many deemed as inappropriate wording. She said: "We're going to go celebrate now.. with the memorial."

Thee nation then fell silent at 11am as the two minutes was observed to remember the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces have made and pay respect to the fallen. observed the silence with airing scenes from memorial services in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast and Westminster Abbey.

They then showed the scene at the Cenotaph where service men and women continued to pay their respects and observe the silence. As the camera's returned to Cat she said: "Incredibly moving scenes there, you're watching This Morning on ITV1."

Cat was joined in the studio by co-host and former Royal Marine Ben McBean, who lost his right leg and his left arm when he was catastrophically injured in an explosion during his first tour of . Many viewers took to social media to criticise Cat's wording and to suggest that she should have said "commemorate" not "celebrate."

One wrote: "Can I just say, Cat, that was a time to remember, not to, as you said, 'celebrate.' Enough with this disrespectful nonsense, please. #ThisMorning."

Other viewers who appeared to have experienced a delay in their stream also accused the show of cutting short the silence as they aired their frustrations. One wrote: "ITV even cut into the two minutes silence. Disrespect all round. Shame on you @ITV #ThisMorning."

Another said: "Well done #ThisMorning for breaking into the two minute silence before it had even bl**dy finished.. So bl**dy disrespectful!" A third commented: "#thismorning two minutes silence once a year too much to ask to acknowledge the debt we owe those who fought for our freedom. Shocking decision."

Cat had also said: "It is the 11th of November and as we approach 11 o'clock, it is time for us to pay our respects and join the nation for a two-minute silence where we'll remember those who served and still serve our country." Meanwhile, The Duchess of Edinburgh joined those paying their respects on Remembrance Day by reading a poem at a service in Staffordshire.

Sophie - Prince Edward's wife - attended the Armistice service at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. The site saw thousands of veterans, serving personnel and members of the public gather at the base of the Armed Forces Memorial.

The National Memorial Arboretum was opened by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2007. The design of the centre means that at precisely 11:00 on November 11, a shaft of light falls on the bronze wreath in its centre.
