Chelsea already has Robert Sanchez replacement to leave Liverpool fans relieved

The goalkeeping conundrum at is making headlines, .

Robert Sanchez has emerged as his undisputed first choice for matches, while summer recruit Filip Jorgensen has been given the nod in the Conference League. Despite a defensive upturn, Sanchez has come under fire for a series of blunders.

The Spain international's mistakes have been partially blamed for goals conceded against , Brighton, and - and his part in Arsenal's goal last weekend was glaringly obvious. As Gabriel Martinelli received a pass from Martin Odegaard at a tight angle, he somehow managed to sneak a shot past Sanchez at his near post.

Despite these inconsistencies, has previously reported that the Blues are keeping faith in Sanchez. In line with this, football.london also understands that rumors linking Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to Chelsea are unfounded. If either of these positions change, Chelsea could turn to the transfer market, with Diogo Costa, Mike Maignan and Gregor Kobel all previous targets.

However, there is an evident potential replacement already within their ranks who isn't Jorgensen. Under Mauricio Pochettino, Sanchez was initially the preferred goalkeeper, but an injury led to Djorde Petrovic stepping in, and the 25-year-old quickly became the first choice.

Maresca's reign saw Petrovic quickly lose his place in the squad, leading to a loan move to sister-club Strasbourg. The Serbian international has since made eight appearances in Ligue 1 for the French side, currently sitting eleventh with just one clean sheet to his name.

Despite this, Chelsea fans have already taken a liking to Petrovic and would likely welcome him back warmly. However, if Maresca doesn't quickly reconsider his position, a permanent departure seems probable given the younger goalkeepers in the club's ranks.

Gabriel Slonina and Mike Penders are both future prospects, while Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli and Ted Curd remain under contract. Given these circumstances, it seems pointless to bring in another new goalkeeper, especially if the club changes its stance on Sanchez, particularly with Premier League-proven Petrovic ready and waiting.
