Chilling spree killer's hate-filled reason for final murder after looking victim in the eyes

A who went on a spree of random violence and murder in 2022 has been convicted of a after a court ruled he had targeted his final victim for being gay.

Brian Marquel Greene, 28, was found guilty of the March 2022 of Glenn Eugene Stevens and Elijah Rasheed in what were initially thought to be random shootings. But it has now emerged that Rasheed was specifically targeted by Greene because of his sexual orientation.

The victim had been purchasing ice at a Family Dollar store on Napier Avenue in Macon, Georgia, with a friend when he met his untimely death. His killer, Greene. was apprehended weeks later in early April 2022, and following an prosecutors have established the motive behind Rasheed's shooting.

On the fateful evening, after briefly making eye contact with Rasheed, Greene was caught on CCTV drawing a 9mm firearm and aiming it at Rasheed's car as it exited the parking lot, reports .

The shot fired by Greene tragically penetrated the vehicle's trunk and struck Rasheed in the back, leading to his death in hospital from the injuries sustained. Prosecutor Michael Parrish recounted to the court how the killer and Rasheed locked eyes as Greene approached his vehicle, although no words were exchanged between them.

Parrish said in court: "We are here to convict a spree killer. That's what he did. He went on a run. He had a week. He went to commit an armed robbery, possibly a carjacking, and killed someone. A week later, he sees someone, makes eye contact with them, and kills them too."

Spree Killer's final crime of hate

During the trial, it was established that Rasheed had been savagely killed due to his membership in the LGBTQ+ community. The prosecution argued that Stevens was killed with the same firearm but for a different reason.

Stevens, 34, was on a first date with a woman, and they were listening to music in his car. It was then that Greene approached them, brandishing a gun and attempted to rob them at gunpoint.

Prosecutors stated that Stevens tried to thwart the robbery and in response, Greene shot him three times, killing him instantly. The woman he was on a date with called police and attempted chest compressions, but Stevens was already dead.

She escaped unscathed and later testified against Greene in court. In addition to murder, Greene was convicted of aggravated assault for the other victims and for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He is yet to be sentenced for his crimes but could potentially face life imprisonment with or without parole.
