Chris Eubank Jr sets out rules for Conor Benn fight - "I can't trust him"

Chris Eubank Jr has told Conor Benn he must bow to his demands if the rivals are to finally fight next year.

The sons of legends were days away from clashing in the ring in 2022 before it was announced Benn had failed a pre-fight drugs test. He has not fought in the UK since and is yet to have his licence reinstated following a lengthy battle to clear his name. Benn and his team are hoping for a resolution this month following a successful appeal from UKAD in May which saw the fighter suspended for a second time.

But talks have resumed over a fight with Eubank Jr, who returns to the ring against Kamil Szeremeta in Riyadh, hopeful a deal can be reached for a showdown next year. And if that does happen, he insists it will be he who is in the driving seat during negotiations.

"That fight is on the horizon, early next year i imagine that will happen, it has to happen," . "I think he will have his licence back soon and as soon as that happens it's on. I'd love it to be at Wembley, 95.000 people, I was there [for vs ] and that atmosphere and energy is unmatched; you cant get that anywhere else on planet Earth, but in terms of business, if the Saudis offer the right amount you've got to be smart

"I wouldn't trust him with anything, we would have him severely rested throughout the entire camp, I'm not leaving it down to trust. Theres no leeway, he has no power now, there is no catchweight, there is no rehydration clause, its all on my terms... no, he lost all of his privileges."

Eubank Jr has recruited Gennady Golovkin's former trainer Johnathon Banks for his clash with Szeremeta this weekend. Eubank Jr had Brian McIntyre in his corner for his win over Liam Smith last year but the American was later arrested for bringing a gun into the UK. McIntyre, who also trains unbeaten champion Terence Crawford, was handed a suspended prison sentence.

Eubank Jr had been in the running to face Canelo Alvarez last month but opted to wait for the chance to fight the Mexican legend next year. And asked if he could face Benn and Alvarez next year, he added: "Absolutely, throw Saunders in there, throw a world title in there. The next 12 months have the potential to be absolutely massive."
