She added: “I just used to get embarrassed” Clarifying it wasn’t his car, “He just used to get a lift home!” Coleen also told the story of when she was going to her friend’s 18th birthday party, she got a call from Wayne’s cousin beforehand, asking if she spelt her name with 1 L or 2.

When she asked why, he said: “I’m just with our Wayne in town, he’s getting a tattoo.” Coleen explained: "I had not long been going with him. I go to this party later on, and he’s going to everybody like this [mocks showing her arm]. He’d got my name tattooed on him! At 17!”

In Coleen's Disney+ documentary she tells the cameras "He did get a tattoo, he had my name put on his arm." But when the producer asks Wayne to show it, he shakes his head and laughs, "No, no." Coleen added: "The fact that he got a tattoo, he must have meant it. It showed he was committed."

In Rooney's 2022 Prime documentary their young relationship was also discussed. The documentary charted Rooney's rise through football as well as their relationship which began very young with Wayne trying to woo her with poetry. He said: "I think I was about 11 or 12. I knew I wanted to go out with her. I knew I wanted to marry her. And I said to her at the time, ‘When we grow up we’re gonna get married and you’re gonna have our kids.’ She was looking at me like, ‘Yeah, good one’."

Coleen said: I always remember he used to hang around by where I lived and every now and again you’d get his mum shouting up and down the street, ‘Wayne!’. I am best friends with Wayne’s cousin Claire. My dad and Claire’s dad ran the local gym. Our families have grew up together. He’s a charmer, growing up that’s how he won me over. The more I said no, the more he said, ‘I will one day, I will get that date’."
