Couple buy iconic 'Some Might Say' Oasis property without realising

Tim Collis and Ryan Phelps bought the derelict Victorian railway station in Derbyshire to renovate.

But the married couple had no idea it was the scene of one of the Britpop band’s most famous record covers. Cromford Railway Station featured on the cover of the single Some Might Say - Oasis’ first number one in 1995.

In the cover snap, Liam Gallagher can be seen waving from the railway bridge while Noel is sprinkling a watering can on the platform below. The Grade II-listed station is a part of Britpop history and now fans of the Manchester band flock from across the globe to stay there.

Tim, 58, said bookings had “gone supersonic” since news of the Oasis reunion was announced. Delighted visitors pose for selfies and recreate the iconic cover for their followers on Instagram.

“I’m a fan of Oasis but we had no idea of the link until we bought the place,” said Tim. “There was a photo frame with a seven inch Some Might Say cover in the dining room. I asked Ryan, ‘What’s this doing here?’ so we researched and found out what the connection was.

“The guy who was selling it to us never even mentioned it, but he must have known because he had the photo. We’ve seen a big surge since the reunion was announced too. It's gone berserk.

“It's gone supersonic, pardon the pun. We've even had the artist who took the photo come here. We weren't able to get tickets for the reunion but I should get Liam and Noel back and do a swap and give them the cottage for the night in exchange for tickets.”

The west side of the station is still in use by rail passengers today, while the east side is used by Tim and Ryan's guests.
