Manchester United losing 3-0 at Old Trafford will be familiar to Liverpool fans. Just a few weeks ago, Erik ten Hag lost by the same scoreline on home turf; earlier today, it happened again.
Goals from Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski put Tottenham in control of the game and while Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a high tackle on James Maddison, Manchester United had been dire even playing 11-versus-11. Former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke put the result beyond doubt with a second-half goal that confirmed the points.
Signed by Ange Postecoglou this summer to further help replace Harry Kane, Solanke has made a good start to life at Spurs. And his celebration here was one that will be familiar to Liverpool too.
Mohamed Salah has an excellent scoring record for Liverpool at Manchester United. He has netted 10 times in his last nine apperances at Old Trafford but his latest one saw him pull out the bow and arrow celebration.
Solanke did the same thing when he scored, which is something he has done in the past when playing for Bournemouth. For Reds fans, though, whoever is scoring and however they choose to celebrate, the fact that Manchester United is struggling again will be welcome.
Asked during his press conference about his future, Ten Hag said: "No, I am not thinking about this. We all made together this decision to stay together, as an ownership, a leadership group in the summer, also we made the decision from a clear review what we have to improve and how we want to construct a squad.
"But we knew it will take some time, how the window went, some players late in like [Manuel] Ugarte. Also, we have to make some improvement in organization, some injuries, we need some time. We are all on one page or in one boat together, the ownership, the staff and the players as well. I don't have that concern."
