Liverpool star was during his side's UEFA Nations League clash with the Netherlands after a medical emergency in the dugout delayed play early on in the contest.
Hungary coach Adam Szalai collapsed on the sidelines and was taken to hospital where it was later confirmed that he was in a stable condition. But Szoboszlai was while the Netherlands went on to win the match by four goals to nil.
The midfielder, as captain, spoke about the incident when the final whistle went in Amsterdam. "I just looked out onto the bench and I watched the whole thing," Szoboszlai said (via ).
"He did so much for the national team and for each and every player that he deserves to fight for him on the field. When we held a meeting, everyone said that we should continue for him and for nothing else."
Szalai was Szoboszlai's predecessor as the skipper of the Hungarian national team and he is now a member of the coaching staff under Marco Rossi. He needed urgent medical attention on the touchline but is now stable.
Goalkeeper Denes Dibusz added: "At first I only saw a leg twitching, then they said it was Adam Szalai. It was a very harrowing experience."
Liverpool.com says: Szoboszlai is a very young captain for his national team but he did well to lead his side through a difficult night. It is good to hear that Szalai appears to be on the mend. scored from the penalty spot and and also started the game in a Liverpool-heavy international fixture.
