Ellis viewers were quick to issue a show demand after the second episode of the tense Channel 5 drama.
In the second instalment, DCI Ellis, played by the talented Sharon D Clarke, and assistant DS Harper, played by Andrew Gower, arrived in the town of Callorwell to investigate the disappearance of a local detective called Jenny Rawler.
Jenny's colleagues claimed that she left of her own free will but DCI Ellis, as well as Jenny's husband, were suspicious as they feared something was amiss.
As the episode continued, there were twists and turns including the fact Jenny was pregnant and her controlling husband wasn't the father, as well as the fact Jenny was days away from submitting a complaint of bullying against her colleagues.
Viewers were left gripped to the episode, where they eventually learnt who was really behind Jenny's demise in a shock twist. Taking to , now X, viewers were quick to demand another series of the Channel 5 police drama.
One person said: "Hope theres another series. I love this #Ellis" to which another account replied: "Yes absolutely hoping for a series two already #Ellis!" Meanwhile another show watcher penned: "Please let there be a 2nd Series @channel5_tv" while a different viewer responded: "Yes. We need much more of Ellis."
Responding to viewers' praise for the drama, Channel 5's official account replied: "You'll be the first* to hear! *well, second and third. As soon as *we* hear, we'll tell you two. #Ellis."
Ellis recently made its debut on Channel 5 and it's a gritty cop drama that follows DCI Ellis as she is parachuted into failing investigations joined by her right-hand man, DS Harper.
A synopsis reads for the three-part series: "As a black female cop, Ellis is used to being dismissed and overlooked, but she is a first-class murder detective, with a determination for justice and a deep well of compassion for those who need it."
Meanwhile, next week's third episode looks just as tense as a teaser reveals DCI Ellis and DS Harper are called to the village of Brindleton following the report of two missing honeymooners.
A spoiler teases: "With the newlyweds' phones found at the edge of a dangerous stretch of river, the working theory becomes that of a murder-suicide. But when a severed hand is found near the newlyweds' camper van, it becomes clear that the pair have met with foul play."
Ellis continues next Thursday at 8pm on Channel 5.
