Fans think they have figured out which character Macaulay Culkin will play after it was claimed he has been cast in a 'must watch' series.

The Amazon Prime series, based on the hit video game franchise was named as one of the best

Reviews also hailed the show as as 'must watch' with IGN naming it as one of the best video game to screen adaptations around.

Ella Purnell featured as the role of Lucy, a high-spirited vault dweller who journeys into the post-apocalyptic outside to track down her father.

Alongside her was fan favourite Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, who proved such a hit among fans, he was added to the recent game, Fallout 76 as a playable character.

The show debuted as Amazon Prime's top three most watched original shows and earned 16 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.

Viewers were already excited for more episodes but with the news of Culkin's casting anticipation is building over which role he could be taking on.

While Deadline claim that he will play a 'crazy genius-type character', many theories have already started to be posted on social media about what or who that could mean.

Some suggest he could play a version of a character that appeared in the game New Vegas, such as Arcade Gannon a scientist who can become a companion for the player.

Others believe he could play a version of a role that debuted in Fallout 4, namely Nick Valentine, an android that runs a private detective agency.

Naturally, other fans had tongue-in-cheek suggestions for Culkin's character with one suggesting: "Sources say that the rumours he will plays the last vault dweller of vault 89 are completely without merit.

"His character will not be defending his vault against surface raiders, who are trying to break in, by laying ingenious traps and hijinks to stop the raiders."

Another had a similar idea, which could actually work very well in the show as they added: "Please be a random camp/shelter builder who just has an insane camp the main characters stumble across….filled with traps of course."

Culkin is a feature in many homes every year with families settling down to watch his breakout role in Home Alone every .

More recently, he voiced a character in animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy and appeared in American Horror Story: Double Feature.

Fallout Season 1 is streaming on Amazon Prime.
