The Great British Bake Off's semi-final nearly descended into disaster when contender Georgie Grasso almost 'quit' mid-task during a critical patisserie week.
While attempting to impress judge Paul Hollywood with a complex opera cake, featuring numerous layers, Georgie was visibly stressed and declared to her peers "I quit".
Quick to act, presenter stepped up to console Georgie. The frazzled contestant confessed, "Oh my god I have done it wrong", and in despair exclaimed, "I don't understand", burying her face in her hands.
Determined to leave the tent, Georgie fretted: "I'm going, I've had enough, I'm going. I just don't want to do it. I'm done", before tearfully resolving: "I'm going to stand here until the end."
Alison, offering a comforting embrace, reassured her: "Listen to me, I have been where you are, you can do it", reports .

With further encouragement, Alison told her: "Listen to me, I've been where you are, what you've just done, listen, this is what you're doing. You put yourself into a 'I can't do this'. Listen to me you've got this, a million percent."
Urging Georgie to let go of her self-doubt, Alison pleaded: "Please, I'm begging ya, get that negative and throw it away right now".
To which a consoled Georgie responded: "Yeah", as Alison affirmed her belief in Georgie's baking skills. In the end, Georgie resumed baking and, although her opera cake ranked last, it was commended as a valiant attempt.
Fans of took to social media to show solidarity with contestants Georgie and Alison.
Taking to X, one viewer sympathised: "Poor Georgie, gone into full on panic mode where your brain just goes into a "no, I can't do anything" spiral. Credit to Alison helping pull her out of it and credit to Georgie for getting something to serve #GBBO."
Another fan applauded Alison's supportive nature: "Alison is such the empathetic friend you need to adjust your crown for you and get you back on track #GBBO", while someone else added their praise: "Me watching Alison bring the positivity back .. what an amazing woman #GBBO".
One more viewer expressed their wish: "I want Alison Hammond to be nearby at all times to give me pep talks when I'm feeling low #GBBO".
The episode ended on a high note for Georgie who secured her place in the final, leaving fellow baker Gill Howard to hang up her apron.
