GMB host slams 'terrible idea' as he claims The Voice change is 'ruining' talent shows

Good Morning Britain star Rob Rinder didn't hold back when sharing his thoughts on a new change to the talent show, The Voice.

During Friday's show, Rob and were joined by entertainment reporter who gave viewers a sneak peek at this weekend's episode.

As the contestants prepare for the live shows, the mentor will.i.am has decided to delve into the of AI to help mentor his team.

His new electric sidekick, Felicia, helping the ITV judge decide who should carry on in the competition, Scarlette informed viewers that it's a first for the show.

However, presenter Rob Rinder was less than impressed by the decision.

Kate asked: "I wonder if they were pleased? Do you think they were hoping he'd pull in or something?"

Rob blasted: "It's a terrible idea! Absolutely awful."

Shocked, Scarlette wanted to know why Rob was so outraged by the decision to use advanced in the programme.

He replied: "The appreciation of music is human, right? It's what binds us. The idea of bringing AI I think really devalues it."

The star told viewers that the "godfather" of AI Professor Geoffrey Hinton has been warning people that technology could end all of humanity.

He added: "Now we're ruining talent shows as well!"

However, Scarlette argued the use of AI in the show could help by checking people's pitch when singing.

Kate seemed to agree although she said: "Don't you think it's fascinating to see how AI offers a different approach? What if it is something that a human mentor hasn't done?"

In the clip from this weekend's episode of The Voice, people saw will.i.am told his team that his guest mentor is a representation of the advancement the world is seeing.

When he told the singers he'd be bringing an AI bot to help him decide their fate, their shock was evident.

He told them: "I converse with Felicia pretty much every day."

One of the contestants told the camera: "I was expecting a human!"

The Voice airs on Saturday from 8:20pm on ITV and Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am
