This fried egg hack will revolutionise your breakfast routine.

Nailing the perfect fried egg can be trickier than it seems, with common pitfalls like rubbery whites, overcooked yolks, or even a burnt base if left in the pan too long. But fear not, kitchen novices – celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has revealed his top tip for elevating your fried eggs.

In a TikTok video, Gordon demonstrates his method, starting with cracking eggs into a pan and gently heating them. His twist? Adding butter to the mix. He advises in the clip: "Start with a little bit of olive oil [in the pan] and lightly crack the eggs on a flat surface. [Add] a touch of salt and a touch of pepper, bring up the heat and let it cook nice and slowly." Gordon then introduces small pieces of butter to the pan, which "froth up" as they melt, enhancing the eggs.

He explains the effect of his secret ingredient: "Get that little bit of butter at the side and see it frothing up, getting that nice yolk beautifully cooked. As the butter starts to froth, it cooks the top of the egg. Really nice way of finishing it."

Gordon Ramsay's simple egg trick has left fans on Instagram amazed, with many drooling over the scrumptious results. One admirer gushed: "I would LOVE to eat anything he cooks ... It all looks so good." Another enthused: "If Gordon cooked for me for one day I would probably never eat again because everything would probably taste gross after the gorgeous meals he makes," while a third chimed in: "Absolutely beautiful."

However, not everyone was sold on Gordon's method, with some critics insisting that the eggs appeared "raw" due to his refusal to flip them. A few offered their own tips for the perfect fried egg, with one suggesting: "Sorry, this is not the best fried egg. Take a cold pan. Add eggs and butter, season and you're done! Try it."

With another advising: "Top isn't cooked, it's still clear and raw! ! Tbsp water and cover with lid... THAT will cook the top and the yolks will be perfect too. You're welcome."
