How to watch 745 MND Rob Burrow hybrid charity rugby game: Squads, rules and ticket details

Send Push

A unique rugby occasion, the first-ever 745 Game is in tribute to rugby league legend, Rob Burrow CBE and aimed at raising money for and awareness around motor neurone disease by uniting both of the sport's codes.

A hybrid of rugby league and union rules, the game was an idea that Burrow and former Leicester and Gloucester lock Ed Slater were developing before Burrow sadly passed in June this year, aged just 41 after a long battle with MND.

The distinctive name for the match, The 745 Game , comes from the numbers worn by Burrow (7) and Slater (4) along with Scottish rugby union legend Doddie Weir (5).

Slater was diagnosed with MND in 2022. His rugby union side will don a cherry and white kit designed by his children, while Burrow’s rugby league team will wear a kit inspired by the yellow design created by Rob’s children in 2022. Officials, led by Ben Thaler and Frank Murphy, will wear kits in Doddie Weir’s signature tartan. Weir passed away from MND two years ago.

Here are all the details around the event.
