star was one of the players who looked devastated as the game, held at Ajax's Amsterdam Arena, was paused while Szalai received treament.
The former Hungary forward was later taken to a hospital in the Dutch capital after the incident. The match would restart shortly afterwards, with , , Denzel Dumfries and Teun Koopmeiners all getting on the scoresheet for the Netherlands.

He has since offered fans an update from hospital, confirming that he is feeling better. Szalai wrote a post on that read: "Thanks for the lots of messages, I'm doing well."
Hungary boss Marco Rossi provided an update prior to his message to assure fans and onlookers that he was conscious and speaking despite the harrowing scenes. He said: "He is conscious, able to speak, we wish him the best. I didn't see anything strange about him, he was perfectly fine and looked healthy, it hit us like a bolt from the blue."
The Hungary Association released a statement on Szalai's situation after the game, saying: "Adam Szalai fell ill in the first minutes of the Netherlands-Hungary match, but his condition is stable and he is conscious. Minutes ago, he was transported by ambulance to an Amsterdam hospital for examination."
It came after ex-Manchester United star Weghorst was slammed by former Netherlands and midfielder Rafael van der Vaart for celebrating his opening goal from the spot so soon after Szalai had been sent to hospital.
Van der Vaart told NOS: "We get a penalty and it's a very difficult situation. When you score and celebrate like Wout Weghorst did, it really makes my stomach turn."
Szalai only recently started as a coach after retiring in 2023. He made 86 appearances for Hungary as a player, having also featured for clubs like Mainz, Schalke, Hoffenheim and Basel.
