I'm A Celeb's Mike Tindall given key advice before ITV show by unlikely aid

Mike Tindall was given advice before his stint – but not by his royal relatives.

The husband of appeared on the show back in 2022, finishing in fourth place behind controversial MP, , Hollyoaks actor and Lioness winner, . During his time Down Under, Mike, 46, was grilled on life within the walls of the British but remained quite tight-lipped about his relatives.

Now, it's emerged that before flying to for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! he was given some strict advise, although it didn't come from palace insiders. Instead, his bestmate, James Haskell, who appeared on the show in 2019 alongside Caitlyn Jenner and offered him some words of wisdom.

Although is used to being in the public eye and often standing alongside , and his wife Zara at royal events, the cameras were on him 24/7, something he's not used to. James, however, was on hand to ensure that the British public saw the real Mike.

"I don't often give advice because I think people have to sort of live their experience," he said when asked what he would say to this year's batch of famous faces. Speaking to , he went on to add: "But I would give the same advice as what I gave to before he went in and he was quite impressed by it as some sense came out of my mouth for once!

"I just said that you've got to remember that you're on a TV show and that you signed up for it and you have no say on how you're portrayed so just enjoy it. You've just got to be very practical and chill as everybody deals with tiredness, hunger, stress and missing family in different ways."

The former England rugby ace added: "You need to be very relaxed or just not get involved in any kind of conversations. People obviously have some pretty bizarre views on life, politics, religion, whatever it might be, they can sit down and go off on one, but nothing good will come of that. I said to him, just avoid those things, keep yourself busy with chores, offer support and do everything you can do to keep busy.

"That's the best way of doing it. You'll have a much better experience if you just take one day at a time. Otherwise, you start getting caught up in other people's drama. You're there to do a show for entertainment." This year, celebs including , Tulisa Contostavlos, Jane Moore, Danny Jones and are all heading Down Under.

During their time in the jungle, the stars will sleep under the shadows of the creepy critters that lurk around, while also competing to win a series of stars in exchange for meals.
