I'm American and tried a fry up for the first time - one item absolutely floored me

An American TikTok sensation was left gobsmacked after tucking into a classic British fry-up for the first time in Swindon. The social media star, known as @kalanighosthunter, headed to Blues Café and tucked in to a plate brimming with the full works: fried and scrambled eggs, mushrooms, sausages, toast, black pudding, bacon, beans, tomatoes, and even controversial onion rings.

Kicking off with the black pudding, he shared his lukewarm take: "Not my absolute favourite by any means, it's not bad, but I feel like it's just - I don't know, it's just not my favourite." Yet, he found a new love in the humble sausage, declaring: "That's tasty, but something I've learned here. Brown sauce needs to just go all over."

Beans on toast surprisingly won him over, as he admitted: "I did not know I was going to like beans on toast, but this is delicious. The flavour pairing is really good on that."

When it came to bacon, he noticed a "big difference" from the US style, enjoying the UK version but still holding a candle for the crispy stateside staple: "This is a lot different than the US but I really like this one. I won't say I like it better than my US bacon. I like the crispy bacon at home. This has a lot of really good flavour," he concluded.

An American trying out a full English for the first time has caused quite a stir online. He remarked, "Dipping it [the bacon] in the egg yolk, that might be a crime over here but man I love it. I don't know if it's a sin over here but I love combining different things on the plate."

His video, which exploded on TikTok with over 92,000 likes, bagged him some tips from viewers. One helpful fan put his mind at rest, commenting: "Dipping in the egg yolk is a common custom you're good."

But while some were supportive, others couldn't overcome their shock at seeing onion rings among the traditional fare, with one person exclaiming: "In all my British life I have never seen onion rings on a full English."
