Send Push

Fortnite is getting some downtime that will hopefully deliver a whopping update to keep Chapter 5 Season 4 sailing.

Fortnite has been having a remarkable season, with Chapter 5 Season 4 proving to be an absolute treat for fans, even those who might not be quick to describe themselves as Marvel superfans. The all-new Marvel battle pass is a belter, the Doom secret skin has been a joy for many to unlock and the arrival of the Birthday event, Day of Doom LTM and teases for this year’s Fortnitemares event has proven that Fortnite remains at the top of its game.

And now a new patch, update 31.30, is about to come into effect, potentially delivering some major new features to the game, including a new mini-event and even more teasers for the upcoming SAW collaboration. There’s a lot to look forward to but, of course, we’re going to have to wait through some downtime first.

Here’s when to expect Fortnite’s downtime, and what could be waiting for us on the other side.

Fortnite downtime schedule for update 31.30

Fortnite downtime for update 31.30 will begin at 9am BST / 4am EDT / 1am PDT on Tuesday, October 1. The @FortniteStatus Twitter account confirmed the downtime start time via a Twitter post and as usual, reminded players that matchmaking will go down 30 minutes before the downtime formally begins.

Fortnite servers usually go down for around four hours but recent patches, like the 31.20 update, have only taken two hours to finalise. With this in mind, we can expect the downtime to end at roughly 11am BST / 6am EDT / 3am PDT, but it could go on a bit later depending on the size of the update.

Fortnite update 31.30 new content

These updates for Fortnite often yield a lot for players to get stuck into, and this new patch doesn't seem to be much different. Various reputable leakers have already revealed new content and early patch notes for the update, which is set to be the final update before Fortnitemares launches.

And because we're now in the run-up to the Fortnitemares event – players can expect teases for the spooky new content to appear peppered across the map. There is also a heavily rumoured Skeletor cosmetic coming to the game as hinted by leaker

on Twitter, which could have something to do with the darker event.

As ever, there are a few more cosmetic additions predicted for the game, with

to suggest that more Marvel, TMNT and Fast and Furious collaborations are expected to touch down in the coming weeks. There is plenty to look forward to, even if much hasn't been revealed yet. We'll simply have to wait and see.

That’s everything you can expect from the upcoming update! There’s a lot more that needs exploring in the season, so we’re keen to see what Epic Games has up its sleeve.
