Hollywood star older sister Rita has died, according to a social media post written by her husband Alex.

In a Facebook post written by Alex, it read: "Rita and I have been together for 16 years and we just got married last year in July in an outdoor wedding that she has always wanted. Rita always had a loving soul and wanted to help everyone even total strangers."

His heartfelt tribute continued: "Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. Until we meet again. You really did have the Time of your life. Your bestest friend and husband, Alex." Rita was one of four children including Jim Carey. And they included John and Patricia. When Jim, who shot to fame following a number of blockbuster films including The Mask, she said he was "the world's greatest actor and comedian."
But she suffered her own loss as she was forced to bury her son Marty in 2005 at his tender age of 25. She then wrote a book titled Growing Up Carey, which delved into her life growing up alongside her famous brother as well as losing her son. One line in the book read: "When I look back at it, I didn’t realize we were really homeless. I just thought we were camping. My parents made it a good time. That’s what life was like." This comes after the devastating loss of the actor's brother John in 2019.
