Kate Middleton's hidden hobby - and she looks totally unrecognisable

and have a shared secret passion - and it allows them to be almost unrecognisable despite their royal status.

The couple were captured on camera enjoying one of their favourite pastimes during a . And even the most dedicated royal fans would have struggled to recognise the pair.

Kate and William embarked on a week-long tour to Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas on 19 March in order to commemorate the , celebrating her 70th year on the throne.

Despite their high-profile and jam-packed schedule, they were able to slip away unnoticed during the second day of their to enjoy a previously unannounced trip.

William and Kate, who are both experienced divers, went snorkelling and diving with 2021 Prize Winner Coral Vita to better understand their project on farming and planting coral in the Bahamas.

In a video shared on their official social media pages and taken by , the royals were seen jumping off the back of a boat, swimming underwater, and giving each other the 'okay' hand signal, as they took in the beautiful local marine life.

Kate looks unrecognisable in the clip, sporting a wetsuit, flippers, goggles and a snorkel, and with her long hair tied back in a ponytail. There was just one thing that gave away the Princess' identity.

Royal fans were surprised to see Kate was still wearing , which once belonged to the late , as she explored the reef with her husband.

Both William and Kate are both accomplished divers, with the . At the time, she successfully completed the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Advanced Open Water Diver qualification, meaning the mother-of-three is able to dive up to a depth of 30 metres.

Kate's family, the Middletons, , where William has gone on deep dives to look for sharks, and it's thought that Kate earned her qualification from a diving school on the private Caribbean island.

William, meanwhile, is a very experienced diver and took over from his father to become president of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) in 2014.

The couple certainly have a love of the water; they have on a number of occasions. But there is one water-based activity that William won't partake in.

previously opened up about one of her more unusual hobbies - and revealed her husband thinks she is 'crazy'. She opened up about her favourite outdoors activity - which she also does in the dark - during an appearance on 's podcast, .

She told Mike - married to since 2011 - "I can always remember being physical, using our bodies, whether it's walking, climbing the lake district, in [or] swimming from a young age. [My parents] always encouraged us to be physically active and sporty and they always encouraged us into doing team sports and trying things."

She then shared her love of , which has many health benefits and involves swimming during the winter season in outdoor locations or unheated pools.

Kate enthused: "Cold swimming - the colder, the better. I absolutely love it. Slightly to the point where William's [saying] 'You're crazy' and it's dark and it's raining. I will go and seek out cold water. I love it."
