Kerry Katona announces huge adoption news as she talks marriage to Ryan

Send Push

Kerry Katona has revealed her fiancé Ryan Mahoney has plans to adopt her youngest daughter Dylan-Jorge.

The eight-year-old, known as DJ, was only three when her father George Kay died of an overdose in July 2019. Kerry says it means DJ has “only ever known” Ryan as a father-figure in her life.

It comes as the former Atomic Kitten star and her fiancé plan to walk down the aisle. Although Kerry says she is taking her time planning wedding number four.

The couple, who met via dating app Bumble in 2018, announced their engagement in 2020. Although they briefly split earlier this year, before reuniting.

Now Kerry has revealed she fears for DJ’s future should anything happen to her. Speaking to Closer magazine, she said: “I’m not fussed about when we get married. My only worry is that if anything happens to me, Ryan’s got no legal representation over DJ.

“She’s only ever known Ryan. DJ was only around three when her own dad passed away and four when Ryan came into our lives, so she’s only ever known him.

“I love him and he wants to officially adopt her. He’s had her name tattooed on his back, not mine.”

Since the couple announced their engagements, rumours have been swirling about a potential baby number six for 44-year-old Kerry. Although the singer says there is “no way” that will happen.

Kerry says her children “are enough” and that Ryan has “accepted that”. She concludes: “We’re happy just as we are.”

Ryan would be Kerry’s fourth husband. She initially married Westlife star Brian McFadden in 2002, sharing children Molly Marie and Lilly-Sue with the Irish sensation.

The pair divorced in 2004, with Kerry subsequently marrying taxi driver Mark Croft, the father of children Heidi Elizabeth and Maxwell Mark, before divorcing in 2011. She wed third husband, former rugby league player Kay in 2014, separating a year later.
