Lewis Hamilton may be helping to make the upcoming movie more authentic, but its producer has also admitted his feedback is also costing money to "fix things".

The film, named 'F1', is set for release in June next year and has been filming on location at various real-life F1 races for more than a year. Lead actor has been present alongside co-star Damson Idris, filming pre-race scenes on the grid and also speaking in the media pen with other drivers.

One thing that has been clear throughout production is how important authenticity is to producer . The film's bosses have even hired to provide feedback on scenes and advise on how realistic different elements are.

Judging by Bruckheimer's latest comments, the seven-time F1 champion has been taking that role very seriously - even if it has meant plenty of changes which have led to rising production costs.

He said: " saw a part of it, gave us a critique of how the drivers actually do various things. The level of specifics that he gave us, like in Silverstone in turn three you are in second gear, and he could hear with his ear [Pitt's character] was in third gear.

"So it is that kind of thing that he is bringing to the movie. He said... when he finishes a race, especially like Singapore, where it is very hot, he can barely get out of the car, they lose 10 pounds... and it is not only him, it is all of them. They are just completely exhausted [and] we are going to show what it takes to be an F1 driver.

"Everything that he has brought to this movie, I cannot even express our thanks to him and all the folks from F1 who made this all possible.

"The authenticity that he brings, we just cannot imagine what goes into what a driver does and what the sport brings to an audience. Sometimes we do not like to hear some of the things he says, because it costs us more money to fix things, but we are all in, we want to make it great, and he is certainly helping us."

Bruckheimer also revealed how the production team's close work with Hamilton and his squad led to some concerns from rivals that they would be portrayed as the antagonists of the movie. He added: "The interesting part is that, since we teamed up with Mercedes, the other teams said, 'Wait a second, this movie is going to be about Mercedes and we are going to look bad'.

"Red Bull said, 'We are going to be the villains'. It took us three years to convince them that they were not going to be the villains and we finally got to a place where all the teams are really leaning into us to really help us."
