A petition started in the wake of star 's death

The online petition was set up by a fan of the pop star to call for new legislation to be made that would see artists in the entertainment industry given more protection, help and support for their mental health. The Change.org petition claims that those working in the business should be given mental health check-ups, rest periods and the support of mental health professionals aswell as stating that Liam worked in an industry that "let him down".

A statement on the change.org petition - which has amassed 134, 672 signatures of a 150,000 target at the time of writing - reads: "Ultimately, I am angry and saddened that the industry has let him down.

"I found myself needing to channel my emotions into something productive and this is where I am. He wanted this and I promised him in my heart I would do it. In recent news of Liam Payne's tragic death as many others, the entertainment industry needs to be held accountable and be responsible to the welfare of their artists.

"We seek to implore lawmakers to create legislation safeguarding the mental health of artists within the industry. Your signature could be a lifeline for these talented individuals, contributing to a larger movement of mental health awareness and care in industries worldwide. Liam's Law."

Liam tragically died after falling from the third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires where he was staying at the time. His death caused an outpouring of grief - and love - around the from not just his fans, but fellow celebrities, , music mogul and , and who was just 31 years old.

Liam's body has now been repatriated to the UK after an agonising three-week wait for his family, with his father Geoff remaining in Argentina with him until his body was released by officials in the country investigating his cause of death and toxicology. On Wednesday, after local authorities completed further toxicology and laboratory tests, his body was returned to his family, as confirmed by public prosecutor Andrés Madrea.

Sources close to the family have claimed that a "lavish service of remembrance" is being planned, with the event expected to take place at a grand cathedral in his hometown of Wolverhampton. RadarOnline reported: "Liam's funeral is going to be packed with A-listers as he was so well-loved in the showbiz community, and so many of them are so sad about his tragic death."

It has also been claimed that his funeral will feature a "series of song tributes" as a testament to his love for music. His family reportedly wish to add in a special musical element into the service. There will be "a series of song tributes from some very big acts" at the farewell, a source claimed.

The source added: "His family want to keep his farewell low-key and respectful, as it's what Liam would have wanted as he was so down to earth. But there are going to be a series of song tributes from some very big acts as he loved singing and making music until the end."
