Liverpool could join bidding war for $5m-rated Scottish wonderkid Lennon Miller

It's Scots at .

with his player-of-the-match performance for Scotland against Croatia, while seasoned star scored the decisive goal against Poland. And now, as the January transfer window edges nearer, Feyenoord manager Arne Slot might be looking to bring another Scottish player into the fold.

The suggests that Liverpool could enter the fray alongside Celtic and Rangers for Motherwell's young midfield maestro Lennon Miller, who reportedly has a £4 million ($5 million) price tag. Touted as a once-in-a-generation player, Miller led Motherwell out at Hampden Park in their Scottish League Cup semifinal clash with Rangers, despite only celebrating his 18th birthday in August.

With four goals to his name this season and having played every game for 'the Well', he also scooped the Scottish Premiership's Player of the Month award for September. While there have been calls for Miller to receive his first senior international cap, Scotland manager Steve Clarke has urged caution, preferring to let him captain the U19s for now.

Clarke said: "He's another young one that everybody wants to hype and push. It's important to let young players grow. Let's just allow Lennon a little bit of time and space to grow up at Motherwell."

Miller is making waves with his exceptional skill and composure on the pitch, already proving himself indispensable to his team this season which sees them perched at fifth in the Scottish Premiership standings, nipping at Rangers' heels. The lad marked his debut for Motherwell back in 2022, just a touch after his sweet 16th.

His gaffer, Stuart Kettlewell, didn't mince words about selecting him as the captain, saying the decision was an "easy one". He's maybe not the loudest voice in there, but his level of performance I believe leads other players," Kettlewell said.

"I believe at times some of what he does on a football pitch can be an inspiration to others, even at that young tender age. When asking that question of Lennon, you guys won't be surprised to learn that he shrugged his shoulders and said, 'Yeah, no problem at all'."

A potential $5 million exit would be record-breaking business for Motherwell, yet with more eyes on Miller, that sum might just inflate. Chatting with Sky Sports, club CEO Kyrk Macmillan couldn't help but sing praises of their golden boy.

Macmillan said: "I think Lennon has done incredibly well since he came into the first team. Obviously, he's now captained the club over the last couple of matches and did it at Hampden as well for the semifinal.

"I think ultimately, it's about Lennon's growth journey and we want him to stay at Motherwell as long as possible. It's great watching him every Saturday, he gets supporters excited. There may come a time where Lennon decides, 'I want to try something new', but ultimately, we want to make his time at Motherwell as successful as it can be and that is who we are as a football club."
