'Magic' three ingredient mix made of things you'll have at home will leave your trainers whiter than ever

A viral is blowing minds on social media with a simple recipe to get your trainers sparkling white using just three household ingredients.

The clip, shared by ideatimes shows an unlikely mix of common items that will get your kicks looking fresh and clean and has gained over fifty seven thousands likes on . The 18 second clip shows the creator squirting toothpaste onto a spoon before putting it into a bowl. They then add a spoonful of baking soda before adding a final spoon of washing up liquid. This mixture is given a good stir until it becomes a white paste in the bowl.

The shot then cuts to a shot of some tired-looking white trainers before the creator scoops a dollop of their white cleaning goo out of the bowl using an old toothbrush and proceeds to scrub the Nike shoes with the mixture. Once the substance has been thoroughly scrubbed all over the white trainers it is wiped off with a cloth leaving the shoes looking sparkling white and good as new. The clip has been shared over and has over 240 comments. “I did it and it made my shows white” one commenter confirmed, while others questioned whether the recipe would have the desired effect.

Meanwhile TikTok is full of cleaning tips with currently attracting controversy online. The 20 second clip, posted by the bestofcleaners account says “I thought I was mopping my floors all this time, I was wrong,” before showing how the creator cleans their wooden floor. The secret recipe they swear by for clean floors is dishwasher detergent, dish soap, hot water and a splash of Lysol cleaner.

The clip, which has been watched more than 16 million times, shows the ingredients added to a mop bucket which is then filled with hot water before cutting to a scene of the wooden floor being mopped and then three buckets of grimy water are poured into a bath. However the post, which has more than 374,000 likes, has attracted a mixed reception among viewers with one criticism standing out among all the others. Many commenters had a problem with the Tiktoker pouring the gross brown floor water into their bath, rather than down the toilet - especially as there was a loofah sponge for washing with right next to the plug hole.
