Manchester City and ensured lead at the top of the Premier League table was limited to a single point as they both came from a goal down to win on Saturday.

The Reds kicked off the weekend with , with Diogo Jota's first-half strike proving to be the difference between the two sides.

Jota, who hadn't scored in the Premier League since the opening day of the season, lost his marker to slot home from Cody Gakpo's cut-back.

That result gave Liverpool a four-point lead over both and Arsenal ahead of their games later in the day, and last season's top two both fell behind at home.

City entertained Fulham and went a goal down when Andreas Pereira turned home from close range after an incredible assist by Raul Jimenez.

Much has been made of Rodri suffering a serious knee injury last month, but his stand-in in the City team, Mateo Kovacic, struck either side of half-time to give City control. Jeremy Doku then increased City's lead when he fired a long-range shot into the top corner.

Rodrigo Muniz responded with another goal for Fulham late on, but the West London side could not find an equalizer as City stood firm to keep up the pressure on Liverpool.

As for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta's team fell behind to Cameron Archer's second-half strike for Southampton but they weren't behind for long as Kai Havertz hit back with a brilliantly taken equaliser just three minutes later.

Bukayo Saka, who registered the assist for Havertz's goal, then produced another assist as his inviting cross was turned home at close range by Gabriel Martinelli. Saka capped a brilliant day when he scored late on to wrap up all three points for the Gunners.

Saturday's results ensure that Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal will occupy the top three going into the international break, irrespective of what happens in Sunday's fixtures, and few would bet against those three teams making up the top three at the end of the season. The big question, though, regards what order they will be in.
