Manchester City is reportedly growing increasingly confident that will sign a new lucrative contract. The club is in ongoing discussions with the Norwegian striker over a significantly improved contract extension, which could see him earning a staggering $630,000 (£500,000) per week.
This salary would make Haaland the highest-paid player in Premier League history, surpassing the $505,000 (£400,000) weekly wage of his teammate Kevin De Bruyne. with Barcelona's Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong currently leading the list with a $760,000 (£600,000) weekly wage.
During recent negotiations in Norway with Haaland's family and Brazilian super-agent Rafaela Pimenta, City's management received a positive response to their generous offer. In addition to the substantial pay rise, an extra two years have been proposed.
The former Borussia Dortmund star has two-and-a-half seasons remaining on the deal he signed upon his transfer in July 2022. The new terms would keep him at the Etihad until the end of the 2028-29 season.
However, one issue remains unresolved - Haaland's current $190m (£150m) release clause. City want this clause removed moving forward, but Haaland's advisors are insisting it stays, reports .
A potential compromise could be for both parties to agree to increase the transfer trigger to $250m (£200m), reflecting his increased market value amid ongoing interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain.
Haaland, currently hailed as the world's top striker, continues to set new records with Pep Guardiola's unstoppable team. The former Molde and RB Salzburg forward, who is expected to lead Norway's attack against Kazakhstan in the Nations League tomorrow, has scored an impressive 105 goals in 113 appearances for City - 75 of those in just 77 league games.
During his stint in England, he has clinched back-to-back Premier League titles, along with a Treble in his debut season. Despite City's recent downturn - they are experiencing a four-game losing streak for the first time under Guardiola - the two-time Golden Boot winner is content and settled in Manchester and plans to extend his stay.
