Man stuck in eye of Hurricane Milton saw 'giant blue explosions' and shares bigger fear

A man stuck in the middle of says he saw "giant blue explosions" after the first night of the horror storm.

Florida residents were told to evacuate their homes and head for safer ground days before the massive storm hit, but some opted to stay indoors and at their place of residence. Those who did have taken to and other social media platforms to show the damage and how their survival in the eye of Hurricane Milton is going.

One man, Stephan, said he has witnessed "giant blue explosions". But he had more pressing problems.

In a clip posted online, his building is starting to . It looks like there is no chance of the street not being flooded as the canal nearby continues to feel the pressure of crashing waves.

His TikTok video, titled "What I've seen already Hurricane Milton", detailed the horror moments and close calls he has experienced so far. With no end in sight for the storm, Stephan said: "I'm not even halfway through this".

He added: "My garage is flooded. The streets are flooded. Who knew when generators flooded they made giant blue explosions. This whole canal going through downtown Tampa is going to flood and hit these streets. I've seen umbrellas and s*** flying around. I've got to stay up until 4am to make sure I don't die."

Despite the horror situation Stephan finds himself in, his power appeared to still be on and the streets he mentioned, which were right outside his front door, were not yet flooded. Concerned members of the public are now refreshing his page constantly for further updates, but some are worried he may not survive Hurricane Milton.

One comment read: "Literally refreshing the page to make sure you're still alive, bless." Another wrote: "Now it feels like my responsibility to keep checking on a random guy I met on TikTok every 30 minutes to make sure he's still safe."

Others had advice for the TikTok user, with previous posts from Stephan revealing he had left the apartment block briefly to check the condition of the area outside.

"Hey friend if you leave your apartment again put something to hold the door open. Stairwells lock in emergencies." Another wrote: "You've got people from every state watching at minimum to make sure you stay safe."

Stephan has since posted since this TikTok, revealing he "thought" he "survived Hurricane Milton" as he further explored his apartment block.

Taking a view of the hurricane still lashing down on the streets of Tampa, Stephan revealed it was "worse than I expected". Other users decided to stick around in Tampa, opting to brave the storm in their homes instead of evacuating.
