Man Utd players 'talking about Erik ten Hag future' as dressing room stance emerges

Erik ten Hag's potential sacking has become a discussion point among the Manchester United players, it's claimed.

The Dutchman has overseen a poor start to the season, picking up just seven points from the first six games with their reverse to Tottenham their second home loss of the campaign. Ten Hag faced serious questions over his future in the summer as the new hierarchy considered their options.

Eventually Ten Hag remained despite overseeing United's worst ever Premier League season. He now faces a huge week with away trips to Porto in the Europa League and then Aston Villa set to potential define his tenure.

Ten Hag was handed a one-year extension back in the summer, but that was only after it became obvious that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co were considering their options as they attempted to identify replacements. A lack of available managers though meant they opted to stick with the Dutchman.

For now, the United squad remain behind their under fire manager, but The Sun reports that the players are openly talking about how much longer Ten Hag may remain in the job given his recent record.

Ten Hag has again been allowed to bring in his own players, adding a further two individuals whom he worked with previously in Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Much has been made of the huge sums shelled out by Ten Hag during his three summers, especially given the lack of return.

The loss against Tottenham on Sunday was the latest defeat that highlighted the lack of style implemented by Ten Hag, which has been a constant criticism throughout his tenure, but the former Ajax man is not fearing the boot.

He said: "No, I am not thinking about this. We all made together this decision to stay together, as an ownership, a leadership group in the summer, also we made the decision from a clear review what we have to improve and how we want to construct a squad.

"But we knew it will take some time, how the window went, some players late in like Ugarte. Also, we have to make some improvement in organisation, some injuries, we need some time.

"We are all on one page or in one boat together, the ownership, the staff and the players as well. I don't have that concern."
