Man Utd's subtle hint on Erik ten Hag sack decision after seven-hour crisis meeting

Manchester United have offered a subtle hint that Erik ten Hag will keep his job as manager.

Ten Hag , with United winning just three of their opening 10 games in all competitions. The Red Devils sit a lowly 14th in the table, six points adrift of the top four.

On Tuesday, co-owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer met with CEO Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, technical director Jason Wilcox and director Sir Dave Brailsford .

The meeting, held at INEOS' London offices lasted for seven hours after getting underway at 10am. Ten Hag for the international break, under the belief he retained the board's backing.

That belief looks to have been well placed, despite the pressure ramping up on him. According to , if a 'huge decision' such as Ten Hag getting sacked was made at the meeting, it would have been commicated publicly afterwards.

But there has still been no statement from the club about Tuesday's meeting. That would appear to be a subtle hint that the Dutchman will be keeping his job, at least for now.

It is also claimed that Ten Hag has not been told his job is under threat. Instead, he is planning to be in charge when United resume their Premier League campaign against Brentford a week on Saturday.

Ratcliffe is understood to have led the talks, with the meeting having been in the diary of United's top team for some time. The billionaire was also in attendance at United's bore draw with Aston Villa, alongside Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox.

Ten Hag had come close to losing his job in the summer, but ultimately extended his contract with the Red Devils. That came after a season in which he led United to an eighth place finish in the Premier League, though they did win the .

Tuesday's meeting finished just before 5pm, with Ratcliffe and Brailsford leaving through a rear entrance to avoid the waiting media. United's miserable return of eight points at this stage of the season is their worst start for more than half a century.

They missed out on the last season and have not failed to qualify for the tournament in successive years in the Premier League era. Failure to make Europe's elite club competition would cost United around £50million.

United have a mixed run of fixtures coming up. After hosting Brentford , they travel to Fenerbahce, who are managed by José Mourinho, and then play away to United three days later. They then host City in the Carabao Cup, in the Premier League and PAOK Salonika in the , before playing Leicester again at home. A two-week international break follows in mid-November.
