The E4 programme has been under fire in the recent series after fans accused some of the cast members or being 'controlling', 'coercive' and a straight-up 'red flag.' In October, fans called Alex 'heartless' when he ignored his wife Holly at the dinner party.

When Amy was introduced to the show, Alex was quick to strike up a conversation with her while completely ignoring his own wife - Holly told her husband why she was upset but it resulted in a huge row where he accused her of "acting up for the cameras". Fans branded him a red flag, with one posting: "He chats up another woman all night but Holly has to shut up because she’s ruining the evening by being upset by it!?!?"

It didn't take long before viewers took to Ofcom to complain about what they witnessed. Ofcom confirmed they received 56 complaints "related to alleged gaslighting behaviour by Alex".

Many urged as they pointed out Alex's behaviour. Their relationship came to an end on the show when they decided to leave the experiment. Alex took to his after the episode aired to write: "Unfortunately, it just wasn’t meant to be. A lot of people wanted me and Holly to last the test of time, at times I wish we could have too. We shared some great memories together on and off camera. I wish Holly nothing but the best in the future, she deserves it! Speak to you all real soon! Love."

He was a controversial figure on the show, with the Birmingham-based star being accused of being 'controlling', ' Many have begged the producers to remove him from the programme - which was filmed months before it aired.

A friend of an ex-girlfriend even alleged that he had in a social media post shared when the line-up of the show was announced. Women's Aid even expressed their "incredibly disappointed" sentiment towards the programme's creators for not ejecting Alex after accusations surfaced.

A representative for the controversial reality star also previously confirmed that he had recently served 24 days in a military prison for abandoning his role as a commanding officer at RAF Spadeadam in Cumbria to film the popular E4 programme.
