McDonald's fans have noticed a major change ahead of the long-awaited return of the fast food chain's McRib. Some have even said things "won't be the same" after noticing a difference.
The McRib will return to McDonald's UK menu on October 16 after nearly a decade of demands. The pork burger combines barbeque sauce with onions and pickles on a soft roll.
Previously, the pork patties were cooked on the grill and then bathed in the rich barbeque sauce. A TikTok video by user showed the original way the patties were submerged before topping with sliced onions and pickles.

Now, stores across the UK have been giving a behind-the-scenes look at how the 2024 McRib is made. Long-time McDonald's fans immediately noticed one huge difference.
Social media has been gaining popularity with clips showing staff using a sauce bottle to dispense the tangy BBQ mix onto both sides of the bun. The meat patty is then placed after the toppings are added, and it looks much less smothered than its 2014 version.
Fans and former staff members reacted in the comments section of one video. One said: "Not a proper McRib! Back in the day it was kept in the unit with BBQ sauce submerging it."
Another wrote: "McDonald’s always manage to mess it up. The meat used to be dipped not dry!" A third shared: "I was looking forward to this coming back. It won't be the same so won't bother now I've seen what you've done to the McRib!"
Someone else commented: "Sad times! Best ask for extra sauce when ordering!" A fifth added that "I worked [at McDonald's] back in the early 2010s when they last had it. Was nowt wrong with having patties held in the sauce trays. Dunno why they've ruined it now!"
Responding to reaction about the sauce change, a McDonald’s spokesperson told The : "We are pleased to confirm the hugely anticipated arrival of the McRib on October 16, returning to the UK for the first time since December 2014. The McRib is a limited-edition product and will be available whilst stocks last.
"Over the years the flavour of the product has remained the same, however we have evolved the way the sauce is dispensed. We have managed to remove complexity and simplify procedures for our crewmembers whilst still delivering the iconic McRib sauce, that our fans love."
The McRib was first introduced in 1981 and has since developed a dedicated following, with people tracking its elusive appearances around the globe. In the UK, fast food fans could last get their hands on the well-known burger in 2015.
