Tyson told : "I was in my socks and he had on shoes. He stepped on my toe because he is a f***ing a**hole. I wanted to think it happened by accident. But now I think it may have happened on purpose. I was in a lot of pain. I had to reciprocate." A member of Tyson's team added: "Jake has been poking the bear the whole time. Mike slapped the s*** out of him."

At the time, Tyson refused to elaborate on his intentions, saying simply: "Talking’s over." But Paul was more vocal, telling Tyson he would pay for the slap when they are reunited in the ring.

"I didn't even feel it, he's angry," he said. "He's an angry little elf. , I thought that was a cute slap, buddy, but tomorrow you’re getting knocked the f*** out. I’m f***ing him up, Ariel, I'm f***ing him up. He hits like a b****… It’s personal now, it's personal now. He must die!"

Tyson's last professional outing saw him quit on his stool after five rounds against Kevin McBride in 2005 with the fighter admitting his career was over.

He made an exhibition return against Roy Jones Jr several years ago - and he believes Paul can deliver a knockout blow. "I don’t think Paul can take his punches as good as Tyson can take his punch," he said. "However, Paul is a good puncher. Don’t get it wrong. And if Mike takes a good shot from Paul, Paul will get him out."

Paul has made a career out of fighting ex-MMA fighters since changing his focus to the ring. Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz are among those he's beaten. He has amassed a record of 10-1 with his sole defeat coming against last year.
