Both midfielders have struggled to adapt to life at Chelsea, with some suggesting those two big-money signings cannot play well in the same team. That notion is underlined by the Blues' disappointing 2023/24 campaign, when they finished sixth place in the Premier League standings.

But Chelsea have shown signs of improvement under new head coach as they battle for a top-four finish - and has insisted that both he and Fernandez are "getting better" individually and as a combination.

"Enzo and I get along very well, we talk, you can see it on the pitch, we are getting along better," Caicedo said as quoted by The Mirror. "I'm adapting more to the club with the new coach."

The 22-year-old also had special praise for Chelsea's player - claiming that he has enough potential to rival Manchester City's Erling Haaland for the division's Golden Boot. Palmer has six goals to his name in the league, so far, after netting 22 last term.

"Cole smells goals," Caicedo added. "He helps a lot when he scores, when he opens up games, he is very important for us. He helps us to open games very early. He will be there fighting with [Erling] Haaland."

Chelsea return to action after October's international break with a trip to Liverpool on Sunday, October 20.
